Rise for Animal Rights!

The Rise for Animals Team, June 21, 2023

In today’s animal protection movement, there exists a lot of confusion about what “animal rights” should or does signify. While we don’t have all the answers, we are excited to share what “animal rights” means to us at Rise!

We believe that humans “should never use animals for their own pleasures or interests, regardless of their benefits”.

It is on this basis that we oppose all nonhuman animal research, experimentation, and testing for human “benefit” or curiosity.

We want to see the abolition of institutionalized cruelty.

Because we want to end all nonhuman animal experimentation – and because history teaches that institutional reform is unlikely to lead to abolition – we don’t come out in favor of most industry “reforms”. (We, of course(!), want nonhuman animals to suffer less in laboratories, but, ultimately, we don’t want them in laboratories at all – we are fighting for empty cages, not bigger ones!)

We view the animal rights movement as a “movement for social change based on issues of justice and our moral duties to others”.

Animal rights is a social justice cause, and we find compelling the theory of intersectionality – which is to say that we vehemently oppose speciesism and all other forms of discrimination and oppression.

We are proud to support animal rights, but you certainly don’t have to identify as an animal rights advocate to support us.

We respect your efforts to help animals no matter where you fall on the ideological spectrum, just as we hope you will respect our perspective even if you disagree. We can all learn from and be inspired by one another, and we are all needed to make the world a more just place for nonhuman animals.

Leave a comment below telling us why animal rights are important to YOU!

I have had a hard time dealing with this…my dog when we got him was scard of any kind of noise,a spoon dropping on the floor he would hide and so scared…he hase a problem with bikes and cars…we can’t even get him to go down the driveway… there was a woman back of my house riding a bike and my dog got out of his harness and she started screaming and my dog grabbed the back of her leg…left a mark but didn’t break the skin…she contacted Bi law and they came for a visit…they told me I had to go to court and my dog could either be replaced in another home or put down…I had just lost both of my parents and my mother inlaw my outher fur baby in between all this died of cancer…I have a beautiful sweetheart of a dog…I can’t believe this is happening.

All animals should be treated with love and kindness. There’s no need for what is happening out there today. None of it. And it needs to stop now. This land too was land before it was ours, they’re taking away their homes too. That’s not right. Leave them alone. People have caused this problem and people can fix this problem too. Leave these sweet animals alone. The poachers need to be completely stopped!!!! Animals are wonderful and they have a heart too🥺

Every life is precious and animals have a huge range of emotions the same as humans. They need to be treated with respect and cared for.

I know so many don’t believe it but animals have feelings too. They are totally dependent on us to treat them right. It’s time to step up to the plate and become accountable.

KY animals need something other than a plastic barrel for a house, they also need shade other than a doghouse, they need more exercise than a small dog lot or a chain. – Abandonment laws are needed or enforced!!! KY need stronger laws against animal neglect!!! Sure, animals might survive some horrible conditions, but it isn’t always humanely! It’s torturous!!! KY has people that believe it’s cruel to have a fenced in yard to keep pets safe. Our young kids need educated to have compassion and a voice for the animals that don’t!

I am and animal advicate. I experience neglect, suffering, abandonment daily. SPAYING and Neutering can help in this over population of unwanted animals. I speak for these animals because they can’t do it for themselves.
