And every single day, the perverse industry behind it all hopes you’re too overwhelmed or disgusted to look . . . and too exhausted to fight.
So — in honor of this Thursday’s World Day for Animals in Laboratories (WDAIL) — we ask you to prove it wrong. To show that you do see what it’s doing – and that you will fight back.
WDAIL is a day the animal research industry dreads, because it shines a spotlight on the very thing it works hardest to keep hidden: the suffering it causes and the lives it destroys.
But this year, WDAIL is even worse for the industry — because this year is proving we have the power to end it:
★ Federal agencies are finally signaling a shift away from animal research and toward ethical, human-relevant science. Stock prices are falling, and executives are scrambling.
★ Federal legislation — from the FDA Modernization Act 3.0 to the SPARE Act — threatens to dismantle the regulatory system that has protected and enriched the industry for decades.
★ A group of animal research veterans is fighting a battle it never expected, as brave, organized community members unite to stop the construction of a massive primate breeding prison.
★ One of the country’s few remaining commercial dog suppliers is losing contracts, facing investigations, and lashing out in desperation.
The cracks are showing. The industry is on its heels. And, it’s counting on us to back down. This WDAIL, let’s do the opposite:
