Everett, MA Residents: Uphold the Ban on Animal Research

The Rise for Animals Team, January 23, 2025

In 2022, Everett, Massachusetts became a leader in the movement for ethical, human-relevant science when it banned animal testing within its city limits

Now, some two years later, this groundbreaking prohibition is at risk. On January 15, 2025, Everett’s City Council voted to reverse course, prioritizing the interests of local corporations over those of its citizens and reauthorizing the exploitation of mice, rats, and fish in city labs.

This reversal is a tragic misstep that stands to harm humans and nonhuman animals, squander huge amounts of City dollars, and betray the clear want of Everett residents.

WE MUST ACT QUICKLY! The Everett City Council plans to finalize its decision at a meeting scheduled for January 27, 2025, at 7pm.

We at Rise for Animals have submitted a letter to the City Council of Everett, urging them to uphold the city’s ban on animal research.

Here’s how YOU can help:

  1. First, send a message to the City Council today, urging the animal testing ban to be upheld.
  2. Then, spread the word and encourage your neighbors to join in.
  3. Attend the Council meeting on January 27, 2025 at Everett City Hall, and make your voice heard.

Thank you for taking action to protect animals in Everett, MA today.
