Together, we’ll show the Dane County Board of Supervisors that
we stand with them for the dogs of Ridglan Farms.
The Dane County Board of Supervisors has done something commendable: it has introduced a resolution urging Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) to revoke Ridglan Farms’ commercial dog breeder license — and to remove the dogs covered by that license from Ridglan’s custody while the state animal cruelty investigation continues.
That’s right: one arm of Wisconsin’s government is on the verge of calling upon another to shut down part of Ridglan Farms’ business — the part where dogs are bred and sold to labs for experimentation.
Last month, The Marty Project spoke to the Board, bringing the voices of the dogs trapped inside Ridglan Farms, and those of us fighting for them, into County chambers. Shortly thereafter, Rise for Animals and The Marty Project submitted a proposed resolution and supporting evidence to County leaders.
On August 8, 2025, the Board introduced its hard-hitting Resolution 119.
Less than a week later, the Resolution was referred to the Board’s Executive Committee — a crucial step on the path to passage.
By pursuing this Resolution, the Board is exercising every ounce of its authority. The Board itself cannot directly shut down Ridglan’s breeding operation.
That responsibility — and that power — belongs to DATCP.
Yes, DATCP. The very same state agency that:
- has repeatedly cited Ridglan Farms for violating state regulations;
- is actively investigating Ridglan’s veterinarians and employees; and
- should be investigating how one of its own employees tried to use her position to protect Ridglan Farms — her family’s business.
Any way you cut it, DATCP knows the truth.
Now, the Dane County Board of Supervisors is demanding that the agency act on it.
Resolution 119 is a critical escalation of political will to hold Ridglan Farms accountable.
The Board must know it doesn’t stand alone. It needs to know that we stand firmly behind its call to action.
Add your name to our Community Letter of Thanks and Support. Together, we’ll show the Dane County Board of Supervisors that people across Wisconsin — and across the country — want Resolution 119 passed and Ridglan’s breeding operation closed.
Rise for Animals and The Marty Project will deliver every signature directly to the Board. This collective letter will deliver a clear message to thank them for their courage and to help maintain the Resolution’s momentum.
This is our moment to show up. Let’s stand with the Board as it stands up for the dogs.
